Let the Prospect Feel Like Their in Control
The first step on how to sell over the phone is to make your prospects feel like they are in control. Throughout the entire sales process, if you want to become better at selling over the phone, you'll have to ask questions that make the prospect feel comfortable. You'll also need to set the proper expectations in a sales meeting; the prospect knows exactly what to expect. Generally, in a sales cycle, when it's crystal clear both parties' intentions, selling becomes frictionless. But of course, the sales and business development rep is the person who controls the sales cycle.
Identify Pains
The next step of becoming better at selling over the phone is to identify pain points. If there is no pain, there is no sale. This is where a sales and business development executive will ask questions to qualify the prospect. When you're asking questions uncover pain, you're also subconsciously building rapport with your prospect. People love to talk to others who listen.
Position Your Product or Service as the Solution
