An interesting study on a tribe in the Amazon rainforest evaluated 705 adults between 2014 and 2015. The tribe lived off of food in the wild. Men in the tribe spend 6-7 hours doing physical activity, and women in the tribe spend 4-6 hours doing physical activity.

This tribe has a much lower risk of heart disease. 90% of the tribe had zero risk of heart disease. Compare this to the United States, where only 14% of Americans have zero risk of heart disease. According to a study done between 2013 and 2016, 1 in 7 youth (12-19) has hypertension.

It’s unlikely that tribes in the Amazon are consuming refined grains or sugar. It’s recommended to avoid sugar to decrease your risk of heart disease, but that’s low on this list. What’s high on the list is the avoidance of fats and red meats.

When dealing with a health problem, especially heart disease, it’s important to know what to eat and what to avoid eating. For more information on that, check out my other videos.
