In this video, Dr. Berg discussed the importance of vegetables. Vegetables are type of carbohydrates and it has a lot of unique factors. The lower the sugar in foods, the better effect it has on your blood sugars. He also discussed the different types of carbohydrates and the underlying principle that is based on the word “food”. The purpose of food is to give us nutrients and our body has certain requirements. Vegetables gives us a lot of vitamins, minerals and the additional nutrients called phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are natural chemicals on plants that adds additional health benefits.
Different Types of Carbohydrates:
• Sugar – Table sugar, honey, Molasses
• Fruit
• Starch – Potato, Yam, Sweet Potato
