In this video, we’re going to talk about the best non-vegetable sources of antioxidants.

There’s a big misconception that many people have, which is that antioxidants only come from vegetables. Many animals consume plants that contain vital nutrients. These build up in animal tissues. In turn, this allows you to get phytonutrients and antioxidants through animal sources.

In fact, animal products contain many important nutrients and antioxidants, including:
1. Carotenoids (lutein and zeaxanthin)
2. Vitamin A/B-carotene
3. Vitamin C
4. Vitamin D
5. Vitamin E
6. Selenium
7. Zinc and iodine
8. Vitamin B1
9. Vitamin B2
10. Folate
11. Vitamin B12
12. Glutathione
13. SOD (superoxide dismutase)

You can find many of these nutrients in…
• Grass-fed beef, liver, and organs
• Wild-caught fish and other seafood
• Grass-fed butter
• Pasture-raised egg yolks

When you’re trying to increase your antioxidants, keep these foods in mind. Don’t forget that animal products can be fantastic sources of phytonutrients, vitamins, and minerals.

Also keep in mind that only organic, grass-fed, and pasture-raised products contain large amounts of these nutrients. Animals fed a grain diet typically have far fewer vitamins and minerals.
