Manage WordPress pages
Add a WordPress page
When you are on the list of pages, click on "add"
The interface to create a page is made up of 4 parts: The title of the page, its content, its attributes and its publication.
1. The title
The first field is for the title of the page.
Advice from our web agency: A title should not exceed 60 characters. Try to place your keywords in it for better SEO.
2. The content of the Wordpress page
The second field is for content, it can be text, images, videos ...
Since the arrival of WordPress 5.0, the content editor has been called Gutenberg. This is a content editor that works as a content block:
Paragraph
Listing
Picture
Video...
Positioned at the top of the blocks you have those you have used the most and lower down all the blocks offered by Gutenberg and the various plugins that enrich this editor.
SEO Tip: Structure Your Content Using Headings Tip: Sometimes your text won't want to wrap. Then use the editor accessible via the text tab.
3. The attributes of the Wordpress page
Your page can have 3 attributes:
Parent: If your site has a lot of pages, you can assign a parent to a page.
Template: You can assign your page a "template", a layout, it depends on how your site has been developed.
Order: You can assign an order number to your pages to change their display order. By default, they are listed in alphabetical order.
4. Publishing the Wordpress page
The WordPress Preview button button allows you to preview the page on the site before you even publish it. So you can make as many changes as you want and view them with the preview without your visitors seeing it. As soon as you are satisfied with the page, click on "publish" and from there it will be visible to everyone.
Below the WordPress Preview Button button, you'll find information about the page and who has access to it.
Wordpress page state: your page can take 3 states
Publish a WordPress page
Posted: will be online for everyone to see
Awaiting proofreading
Draft: will not be online
Visibility: lets you know who has access to the page
Audience: everyone will be able to see the page
Password protected: only users with the password will be able to view the page
Private: Only site administrators can see the page.
Publish now: this option gives you the possibility to choose the date on which you want to publish the page. If you enter a date in the future, your page will only be visible from that date, the "publish" button will then become "schedule"
When your page is published, new information will be placed in this block: revisions. To learn more about the revisions, click here
Edit a WordPress page
To edit a page, just click on the page title while in the page list. The "edit page" screen works exactly the same as the one for adding a page. There is just a small difference, the Publish WordPress Button button has changed to Update WordPress Button since your page has already been published on the site. As soon as you are satisfied with your changes, click on "update".
Delete a WordPress page
If you want to trash a page, there are two ways:
In the list of pages, select it or hover over the title
and click on "Move to trash".
