Some tatting beginners have trouble to flip the stitches to make a Double Stitch (DS).
This video focuses on how the flipped stitch is made in chains and rings (actually they work the same)

But we don’t make the flipped stitch correctly, the chain will be very awkward (not smooth like a rainbow) and you can’t close the ring successfully.
So, make sure you are doing the flipped stitches in the correct way before you start to make a simple motif.

Practice makes perfect, once you get used to the flipped stitch, you will enjoy tatting a lot!
