I like to grow different eggplant varieties, and in this video I'm going to show 5 different eggplant varieties that grow well in our zone 6 garden. The 5 different types of eggplants that will be included are Long Purple, Rosita, Mitoyo, Aswad, and Ichiban II.
All of them are heirloom varieties except for the Ichiban II. The Ichiban II I bought as a plant, but the rest were started from seed by me.
Even though I hadn't tasted some of them when I shot the videos, I did try them all later. I didn't find a huge difference in the flavor of them, but I thought thy were all good. I was impressed with how mild the Mitoyo was, and I even sampled some of that raw. I was also impressed by how bright white the flesh of the Rosita was when I was preparing it.
Even though we are in zone 6, we do get some serious heat sometimes. All of these eggplant varieties held up very well to our hot summer.
