Welcome to Lecture 16 of the course "Digital Signal Processing" by Prof.David Koilpllai
Full Course: https://study.iitm.ac.in/es/course_pages/EE3101.html
Video Overview
In this lecture you will learn about the fundamental properties of discrete time systems focusing on linearity and time invariance also called shift invariance. We will show you how to test systems for these key properties using practical examples to build your understanding. You will also learn how any discrete time signal can be represented as a sum of scaled and shifted unit impulses which leads to the derivation of the convolution sum. This powerful tool allows you to determine the output of any linear time invariant LTI system when you know its input and impulse response. We will conclude with a clear worked example to help you learn how to calculate the convolution sum and understand the commutative property of convolution in signal processing.
About IIT Madras' online Bachelor of Science programme
IIT Madras offers four-year BS programmes that aim to provide quality education to all, irrespective of age, educational background, or location. The BS programme has multiple levels, which provide flexibility to students to exit at any of these levels. Depending on the courses completed and credits earned, the learner can receive a Foundation Certificate from IITM CODE (Centre for Outreach and Digital Education), Diploma(s) from IIT Madras, or BSc/BS Degrees from IIT Madras.
