Welcome to Lecture 17 of the course "Digital Signal Processing" by Prof.David Koilpllai
Full Course: https://study.iitm.ac.in/es/course_pages/EE3101.html

Video Overview
In this lecture you will learn about the concepts of energy and power in discrete time signals and their importance in signal processing. We will explain how to calculate the energy of a sequence and why energy is not a suitable metric for periodic signals. You will then learn how to define and compute the power of a discrete time sequence and see its relevance for analyzing periodic signals. The lecture also introduces the concept of partial energy and explains how it connects to both energy and power. By the end of this session you will be able to classify signals into energy signals which have finite energy and zero power and power signals which have infinite energy and finite power to strengthen your understanding for analyzing signals in practical systems.

About IIT Madras' online Bachelor of Science programme
IIT Madras offers four-year BS programmes that aim to provide quality education to all, irrespective of age, educational background, or location. The BS programme has multiple levels, which provide flexibility to students to exit at any of these levels. Depending on the courses completed and credits earned, the learner can receive a Foundation Certificate from IITM CODE (Centre for Outreach and Digital Education), Diploma(s) from IIT Madras, or BSc/BS Degrees from IIT Madras.
