Welcome to Lecture 40 of the course "Digital Signal Processing" by Prof.David Koilpllai

Video Overview
This lecture introduces the Discrete-Time Fourier Transform (DTFT), a fundamental tool for analyzing discrete-time signals and systems in the frequency domain. We begin by defining the DTFT and exploring its essential properties, including its continuous and periodic nature, and how it relates to the continuous-time Fourier transform after sampling. You will learn about the forward and inverse DTFT equations and understand how the DTFT provides insight into the magnitude and phase spectra of signals and systems. We also connect the DTFT to the analysis of LTI systems through their impulse responses. The session concludes with a clear proof of the inverse DTFT, strengthening your conceptual foundation for advanced signal analysis and filter design.

About IIT Madras' online Bachelor of Science programme
IIT Madras offers four-year BS programmes that aim to provide quality education to all, irrespective of age, educational background, or location. The BS programme has multiple levels, which provide flexibility to students to exit at any of these levels. Depending on the courses completed and credits earned, the learner can receive a Foundation Certificate from IITM CODE (Centre for Outreach and Digital Education), Diploma(s) from IIT Madras, or BSc/BS Degrees from IIT Madras.
