Welcome to Lecture 42 of the course "Digital Signal Processing" by Prof.David Koilpllai

Video Overview
This lecture dives into the moving average (MA) filter, a cornerstone in discrete-time signal processing. We start by deriving the impulse response of a causal MA filter and then compute its Discrete-Time Fourier Transform (DTFT). By simplifying and analyzing the DTFT, we uncover the filter's frequency response and see clearly how it behaves as a low-pass filter, effectively reducing high-frequency noise while preserving low-frequency components. We also explore how to determine the phase response and group delay from the DTFT, providing insights into how the MA filter shapes signals in both magnitude and phase within the frequency domain.
About IIT Madras' online Bachelor of Science programme
IIT Madras offers four-year BS programmes that aim to provide quality education to all, irrespective of age, educational background, or location. The BS programme has multiple levels, which provide flexibility to students to exit at any of these levels. Depending on the courses completed and credits earned, the learner can receive a Foundation Certificate from IITM CODE (Centre for Outreach and Digital Education), Diploma(s) from IIT Madras, or BSc/BS Degrees from IIT Madras.
