Welcome to Lecture 46 of the course "Digital Signal Processing" by Prof.David Koilpllai

Video Overview
This lecture deepens your understanding of the Discrete-Time Fourier Transform (DTFT) by working through a clear numerical example. We explore how to identify key characteristics of the DTFT, including evaluating its value at specific frequencies such as DC and Pi, and determining its phase response using symmetry properties, all without explicitly computing the full Fourier transform formula. We also apply Parseval's theorem to connect the time and frequency domains practically. This session reinforces how DTFT properties can simplify sequence analysis and builds strong intuition for analyzing discrete-time signals in the frequency domain.
About IIT Madras' online Bachelor of Science programme
IIT Madras offers four-year BS programmes that aim to provide quality education to all, irrespective of age, educational background, or location. The BS programme has multiple levels, which provide flexibility to students to exit at any of these levels. Depending on the courses completed and credits earned, the learner can receive a Foundation Certificate from IITM CODE (Centre for Outreach and Digital Education), Diploma(s) from IIT Madras, or BSc/BS Degrees from IIT Madras.
