Through examples such as the Staatsgalerie, Stuttgart by James Stirling, Haas Haus, Vienna by Hans Hollein, the Humana Building and Portland Building by Michael Graves, the AT&T Building by Johnson/Burgee, and Comerica Tower, the lecture explains how Postmodern architecture reintroduced symbolism, ornamentation, colour, and historical references into contemporary buildings. The lecture also discusses religious and regional examples like the Cathedral at Evry by Mario Botta, Al-Ruwais Mosque by Abdel Wahed El-Wakil, and Vidhan Bhavan, Bhopal by Charles Correa, highlighting themes such as tripartite division (base–shaft–capital), corporate identity, coexistence of old and new, radical eclecticism, and Postmodern Regionalism.
