This lecture continues the previous discussion on groundwater exploration by focusing on a case study utilizing integrated remote sensing (RS) and GIS methodologies. A three-dimensional perspective view of the Sironj and Naren Reservoir areas is analyzed, highlighting the methodology used to identify groundwater recharge zones and potential reservoir sites. This study, referenced from Saraf and Choudhury (1998), employs digital elevation models (DEM) and drainage networks to compute groundwater recharge variations and potential zones for future reservoirs. Groundwater prospective zones and recharge zones were mapped, demonstrating varying levels of suitability. Additionally, the lecture covers the historical and current statuses of reservoirs such as the Govind Sagar Dam, emphasizing the importance of managing groundwater resources efficiently amidst increasing population demands.
