Do you know why you can't just delete a business capability in SAP LeanIX the moment it becomes outdated, and what "lifecycle status" has to do with blocking that deletion? This session takes you deep into business capability mapping, one of the most hierarchical and dependency-heavy areas of SAP LeanIX. You'll see live, hands-on work with fact sheet lifecycle status changes, dependency handling between upstream and downstream objects, and the real mechanics of mapping applications to business capabilities.

Chapters:
0:00 - Recap: fact sheet relations & color-coded risk status
1:41 - The LeanIX Meta Model: full layer overview
8:05 - Predefined dashboards & report categories
21:10 - Hierarchies in fact sheets (capability drill-down levels)
36:44 - Fact sheet attributes explained
49:05 - Live demo: creating a new fact sheet (business capability)
58:10 - Sample Excel template walkthrough
1:19:00 - First upload attempt & error report review
1:34:19 - Archiving a fact sheet demo
1:48:15 - Troubleshooting: inconsistent fact sheet counts across users
In this video, you'll learn:
How fact sheets are interconnected in the metamodel, and why changing one (like marking it "at risk") can require updating a dependent IT component's date first
The correct order of operations when making changes: settle downstream objects and dependent applications before expecting upstream changes to reflect correctly
What business capability really means as a fact sheet type, and why it typically carries a deep hierarchy compared to other fact sheet types
Key business capability fields explained: lifecycle, business criticality, provider interfaces, and tags
Why a business capability can't simply be deleted while its lifecycle status is still active, and what needs to change first
How application-to-capability mapping actually works, connecting the applications your organization runs to the business capabilities they support
Live troubleshooting and real Q&A on capability counts, organizational relationships, and how numbers reflect true data completeness
Business capability mapping is genuinely one of the higher-value skills in enterprise architecture. Once applications are properly mapped to capabilities, leadership can finally see which parts of the business are over-invested in technology and which are under-supported.
