Do you know why SAP quietly killed off its own product called "SAP Cloud Platform" and rebranded the entire thing as BTP, and what that decision actually tells you about where SAP is heading? This session takes you through the complete evolution story: from SAP NetWeaver's on-premise roots, to SAP HANA Cloud Platform, to SAP Cloud Platform, and finally to today's SAP BTP. Understanding this history isn't just trivia; it explains exactly why BTP is structured the way it is today, and why "intelligent enterprise" has become SAP's core strategic language.

In this video, you'll learn:
The complete evolution timeline: SAP NetWeaver → SAP HANA Cloud Platform → SAP Cloud Platform → SAP Business Technology Platform
Why SAP retired the "SAP Cloud Platform" brand in 2021 due to market confusion, and rebranded it as a unified, business-centric platform
The five core technology pillars of BTP: Database & Data Management, Analytics & Planning, Application Development & Integration, Automation, and Artificial Intelligence
What "Intelligent Enterprise" really means, and how it uses data and AI to break down silos and drive real-time decisions
The critical difference between operational data (from ERP, HR, supply chain) and experience data (customer sentiment, feedback, surveys), and why combining both matters
How BTP acts as a transformation engine that keeps your SAP core "clean" while enabling rapid custom development and integration
The measurable business benefits of BTP adoption, including faster ROI payback, reduced downtime, and accelerated innovation cycles
Once you understand why SAP evolved this way, BTP stops looking like a random collection of services and starts looking like a deliberate, unified strategy, and that context makes every technical topic after this one click faster. The next session goes deeper into intelligent enterprise architecture and real-world BTP use cases.
