Do you know why SAP charges roughly 2-3x more for a private cloud deployment compared to public cloud, and which one your enterprise should actually choose? This is Module 1 of the SAP BTP Solution Architect program, and it starts exactly where a real architect needs to start: cloud fundamentals, deployment models, and the layered IaaS/PaaS/SaaS structure that BTP is built on. If you've been treating "the cloud" as one generic concept, this session breaks down the real decision points, availability, disaster recovery, scaling, and cost, that separate a good BTP architecture from an expensive mistake.

Chapters:
00:00 Introduction
02:59 Course Logistics & LMS Overview
08:46 Horizontal vs Vertical Scaling
23:21 PaaS vs iPaaS
34:00 Subaccounts & Entitlements
39:26 Business Data Cloud & Datasphere
44:14 Event Mesh Overview
In this video, you'll learn:
The core benchmarks every cloud deployment must meet: multi-region availability, zero downtime, and both horizontal and vertical scaling
The real differences between public, private, hybrid, and multi-cloud deployment models, and their true cost implications
Why SAP BTP itself operates as a hybrid model: public cockpit and platform, with SaaS applications running privately
The IaaS vs. PaaS vs. SaaS layers explained clearly, with SAP BTP positioned as the PaaS layer beneath everything else
Why Integration Suite is a specialized "Integration Platform as a Service", distinct from general application PaaS, with its own brokers, adapters, and API management
Why multi-cloud strategies matter for disaster recovery, using real-world examples of major cloud outages
An honest breakdown of what this solution architect course covers (and doesn't), plus what changed with SAP's certification format, now open-book and scenario-based
Understanding cloud fundamentals this deeply before touching a single BTP service is exactly what separates architects who can defend their design decisions from those who are just clicking through a cockpit. This is Module 1; the next session moves into account provisioning and the directory-based model in detail.
