MCP is becoming a powerful way for AI applications and agents to connect with external tools. In this hands-on video, we build a Security MCP Server in Python using Claude Code and then test it live with MCP Inspector.

Welcome to Video 18 of the AI-Driven Cyber Security Complete Course 2026 on The Techzeen.

In the previous video, we learned the fundamentals of Model Context Protocol (MCP). Today, we move from theory to practice and build our own local MCP server with security-focused tools.

WHAT WE BUILD
A local stdio MCP Server with 3 safe, read-only security tools:
check_ip
Check information related to an IP address.

search_cve
Search vulnerability information related to CVEs.

analyze_log
Analyze security log data for suspicious patterns.

WHAT WE COVER
* Create the Python project and virtual environment
* Install the official MCP Python SDK
* Start Claude Code inside the project
* Use Claude Code to generate the MCP server
* Create custom MCP tools
* Add proper tool descriptions and input validation
* Add error handling and clean project structure
* Keep the server read-only and avoid dangerous system actions
* Run the MCP server locally
* Launch MCP Inspector using npx
* Connect MCP Inspector to the server
* Discover the available MCP tools
* Execute and test each security tool live

SECURITY-FIRST APPROACH
The server is intentionally designed around safe, read-only operations.
We do NOT give the MCP server arbitrary shell execution, file deletion, or dangerous system access.

This demonstrates an important principle when connecting AI agents to security tooling:
Give AI only the tools and permissions it actually needs.

WHAT YOU'LL HAVE BY THE END
A working local Security MCP Server that exposes Python-based security tools through the Model Context Protocol and can be inspected and tested using MCP Inspector.

This is the practical foundation for connecting AI agents with security tools, APIs, databases, logs, and other external systems.
