Almost every modern mobile app has one — a bottom navigation bar that lets users instantly switch between Home, Search, Profile and other main sections.

Today, we build our own Bottom Tabs Navigation using React Native, Expo Router, icons and NativeWind.

Welcome to Video 12 of the AI Mobile Engineer Bootcamp 2026 by The Techzeen.

WHAT WE BUILD TODAY:
Bottom Tabs Navigation
Implement a complete bottom tab navigation system using Expo Router and file-based routing.

Expo Router Tabs
Understand how the (tabs) route group and _layout.tsx are used to organize tab screens.

Tab Icons
Add icons to each tab and configure the navigation so tapping an icon opens its corresponding screen.

NativeWind Styling
Use Tailwind-style utility classes to create a clean and modern mobile UI.

LIVE TESTING
Run the app and test every tab to verify the complete navigation flow.

By the end of this video, you'll understand how Bottom Tabs work and how to implement them in a real React Native Expo application.

AI-NATIVE DEVELOPMENT

Use AI to build faster — but don't blindly copy AI-generated code.
