CI builds the container — CD ships it to a live Kubernetes cluster automatically
No manual kubectl chaos. No console clicking. Pure production DevOps.

In this masterclass, we implement a complete Continuous Deployment pipeline that deploys a Next.js containerized application to a live Google Kubernetes Engine Autopilot cluster — fully automated using GitHub Actions.

We start with strong foundations: what Kubernetes really is, what GKE provides on top, how Autopilot changes cluster operations, and why Google’s Borg system reshaped large scale application deployment.

Then we move into hands-on production work.

We enable Kubernetes Engine API, create a GKE Autopilot cluster, and configure IAM with least privilege — Kubernetes permissions, Artifact Registry reader, and Service Account User roles — properly and securely.

Inside the project, we create a dedicated k8s directory and write deployment.yaml and service.yaml from scratch using industry standard structure — replicas, rolling deployment model, load balancer service, and image placeholder variables instead of hardcoded values.

Then we extend the CI workflow into a full CD pipeline using GitHub Actions — fetching GKE credentials, authenticating securely, and deploying the new image directly into the cluster automatically.

Git commit → pipeline runs → cluster updates → service exposed → public URL live.

This is real cloud native DevOps deployment — not demo scripts.
