We’ll start by covering the essential typography concepts and Illustrator tools that are necessary for designing fonts, including creating vector shapes, manipulating paths, and mastering the pen tool for precision. You'll also explore how to design various styles of type, from modern sans-serif fonts to decorative and hand-lettered styles.
As the course progresses, we’ll guide you through the entire font creation process, starting with initial sketches and ideas, and moving through the digitization of your font. You’ll learn how to organize glyphs, ensure consistent spacing and kerning, and refine the design for professional use. We’ll also cover how to export your font designs from Illustrator to a font creation software, such as FontForge or Glyphs, to finalize and generate your font file in formats like TTF or OTF.
