What are vectors in linear algebra? Definition: A vector is a list of numbers. ... In this example, the list of numbers was only two elements long, but in principle it could be any length. In solving ordinary and partial differential equations, we assume the solution space to behave like an ordinary linear vector space.What is a vector algebra? Definition of a vector. A vector is an object that has both a magnitude and a direction. Geometrically, we can picture a vector as a directed line segment, whose length is the magnitude of the vector and with an arrow indicating the direction. The direction of the vector is from its tail to its head.Is Linear Algebra hard? Conceptually it's very hard, but the mechanics aren't hard. Linear Algebra is very different from any other math you will have encountered up to this point. Getting your mind around the geometric basis of everything isn't easy. ... Vector spaces as abstract algebraic entities were first defined by the Italian mathematician Giuseppe Peano in 1888.
